ATHLETICS: Canvey’s international star Jessica Judd kept up her impressive form when running for Chelmsford AC in the third of this season’s Essex Cross-Country League races at Hockley.
Jessica, a student at Castle View School, won her third successive race and again finished more than a minute ahead of her nearest rivals in the under-15 girls’ race. She had a time of 14mins. 52secs and easily heads the standings with two races to go.
Despite still being at junior school at Leigh Beck, Jessica’s sister Jodie was ninth in the under-13 girls’ race and stands eighth in the overall standings.
Another Chelmsford AC runner, Southend High for Boys’ Alex Short, won the under-17 men’s race in 22 mins. 37secs and is also set for overall league glory.
