A VAST number of Castle Point Joggers members donned their running shoes on Boxing Day, as they competed in the Witham Five and Crown to Crown events.

Six representatives travelled to Witham, while the Crown to Crown contest - which was hosted by Pitsea Running Club - attracted 13 Castle Point Joggers members.

The Sweeneys enjoyed a memorable day at the Witham Five, as both John and Karen notched personal bests.

John crossed the finish line after 35 minutes and 27 seconds to secure 91st place, while Karen’s time of 49 minutes and six seconds was enough to take 321st spot.

Adam Poulton finished in 92nd place despite finishing with the same chip time as John Sweeney.

Ian Hart claimed 166th position, with a time of 39 minutes and 48 seconds.

Cliff King was just 27 seconds behind Hart to take 178th place.

Ian Walker’s time of 40 minutes and 44 seconds allowed him to finish in 187th spot.

Meanwhile, it was a family affair at the Crown to Crown event as two Bonhams, Franklins and Dunns were on the starting line.

Richard Bonham was the first Castle Point Joggers representative home, finishing in 20th place with a time of 20 minutes and 30 seconds.

Rick Wade came 43rd, having notched a time of 22 minutes and 13 seconds.

Paul Franklin was the 86th runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 24 minutes and 11 seconds.

Ray Selwyn was just nine seconds adrift of Franklin, as he claimed 89th spot.

Matthew Debenham’s personal best time of 25 minutes and 21 seconds was enough to secure 105th slot.

Colin Dunn finished after 25 minutes and 48 seconds to ensure he finished in 113th place.

In 128th spot was Graeme Edwards, with a time of 26 minutes and 51 seconds.

Gary Bright was eight places and 40 seconds behind Edwards.

Ray Vautier took 160th position, having notched a time of 28 minutes and 41 seconds.

Luke Bonham was in 171st place after crossing the finish line in 29 minutes and 19 seconds.

Taylor Dunn and Kathy Franklin finished in 233rd and 234th spot respectively after registering times of 34 minutes and eight seconds and 34 minutes and 12 seconds.

Georgie Burch was the final member to complete the Crown to Crown competition.

Burch finished after 38 minutes and 43 seconds to come in 256th place.
