ADAM Hickey will be racing in his third European Cross-Country Championships.
British Athletics selectors confirmed the Southend AC athlete had got the nod on Tuesday morning after he finished fifth in the trials race in Liverpool on Saturday.
There is no room in the GB squad for Canvey’s Jessica Judd, however, who has been overlooked despite finishing sixth in the under-23 trial race.
The top four athletes in each category in the trial race were automatically selected for the championships in Hyeres, France, on December 13.
The next two places were left to the selectors’ discretion and they favoured Alice Wright, who finished fifth in America’s NCAA Championships last month, over Judd.
Hickey, 27, will be looking to replicate his performance of last year in this year’s race.
He finished ninth in bitterly cold conditions in Samokov, Bulgaria, which was his best result as a senior athlete.
