JESSICA Judd believes she is brimming with all of the motivation needed to reach her best this season after a difficult run out at the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix.

Judd was third during last weekend’s 3,000m at the British Championships in Sheffield but she was down in eighth in Birmingham.

However, she did manage to post a season’s best time as she clocked 9m 8.03s and saw off fellow Brit Emelia Gorecka.

And Judd says she knows hard work is needed and intends to put in the hours ahead of the outdoor season.

“It was better than last week but it’s still not where I want to be. I’m better than that, I got pushed all the way through,” said Judd.

“It’s OK though and it will give me a good kick up the backside which I need every now and again.

“I think the turnaround we had from last week was hard but that was promising and I worked as hard as I could.

“Unfortunately it didn’t pay off but that was another sub 9m 10 s so I can’t really moan about that.

“I think I’ve got what I wanted out of the indoor season; I’ll be disappointed if I haven’t.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to training. I think that will be it for me and the indoors because I don’t want to do any more.”

It is set to be a busy season for Judd who has set her sights firmly on lining up with the best in the business at this summer’s World Championships in Beijing.

And she says she is ready to start the hard graft as she seeks to make her mark in China.

“I’ve got some warm weather training so that will be really fun and I just want to get out there and do that,” she added.

“I’ve got the UK Intercounties Cross-Country Championships before then just to give me another kick up the backside and to make sure I don’t get complacent.

“I’m looking forward to outdoors so much and I think Beijing is definitely the main aim for me. I’d be silly if I didn’t aim towards that because everyone else is and I’ve just got to knuckle down and work hard.

“I take positives out of Saturday. There are quite a few negatives but it will make me stronger in the outdoor season and I can’t ask for much more than that.

“I’m so happy right now and I love my running. Even though I get nervous I think where would I rather be? As long as I work hard it will pay off.”
