BILLERICAY’S Connie Forman has won the Echo and Runner’s Edge’s athlete of the month competition for June.
The 13-year-old, who competes for Chelmsford AC and attends Mayflower High School in Billericay, had a fantastic month.
She won gold in the long jump at the Essex Schools Championships, leaping out to a best of 5.14m and went on to improve that distance twice at club meets in June. Her PB now stands at 5.29m which is the seventh best leap in the country in the under-15 age group and the top for an athlete aged 13.
Connie – who is also a promising footballer and a member of the Essex FA’s centre of excellence – is also an impressive sprinter, clocking a best of 12.6s for the 100m for her club in June and 26.5s in the 200m.
She also won the 100m and long jump at the Basildon & District championships.
Connie’s prize was a pair of Skechers trainers from Runner’s Edge in Southend.
The competition for July is now open. If you would like to nominate someone for their performances, email ryan.goad@ nqe.com
