ROBIN Womack will be aiming to turn up the heat when he bids for another global medal at the IPC World Championships in France tomorrow.

The Southend based shot-potter won bronze at last summer’s Paralympics in London.

And he now wants to secure another podium position in the scorching Lyon conditions this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there and I’m definitely going for another medal again,” said Womack, 42.

“It’s been so hot that we’ve been advised to stay inside as much as we can otherwise our energy levels will be reduced.

“We’re having to watch our team-mates compete on a large screen in our hotel and not the actual stadium because of the conditions.

“But I’m feeling good and as long as I perform well I’ll be happy with a medal of any kind.”

Womack goes in to the event sitting fourth in the world rankings but is expecting another extremely close contest.

All three medallists from London 2012 will be in action and, having shaken off a slight wrist injury, Womack is heading in to the showdown in good shape.

“I’m feeling good and have been throwing well in training out here,” said the keen Southend United supporter.

“All the throwers seem to have bulked up from last summer and I’d like to think they’ve been copying me where that’s concerned.

“But these championships are always very close and I’m just going to have to get out there and smash it.”

Womack threw a personal best of 11.34metres at the Paralympics but is now keen to beat that mark.

He will line up against 14 other throwers in the F55 category and his event, which begins at 8.47am, will be shown live on the IPC website before also been replayed on Channel Four later in the day.
