Burlesque to add a bit of edge to Blues
8:00pm Thursday 12th July 2012 in Sound Check
Precious Burlesque – glamorous
ROCKABILLY blues meets burlesque at a special event at Club Evolution at the Spread Eagle this weekend.
Bluesman Steve Hooker will be bringing an added dash of glamour to proceedings when he appears with his Stripped Down Stompin’ Band – and dancers from Precious Burlesque.
Steve says: “We’ve often featured burlesque at our Tattooed Lady events in Southern Spain and Rock’n’Grind Shows in the UK with dancers from the USA, Japan and the UK.
“Precious Burlesque are from Colchester and Ipswich.
“We’ve worked with a couple of the girls previously when they were in another troupe.”
It’s a busy time for the outfit, and Steve hopes they’ll showcase some of the new material they’re working on at the moment.
He says: “We’re busy between gigs recording new material ranging from Gospel Blues to Fast Country Rockers to Bottleneck Instrumentals at our favorite Essex studio. We hope to preview one or two of the tunes on stage.”
Steve Hooker’s Stripped Down Stompin’ Band plus Precious Burlesque are at Club Evolution at the Spread Eagle, Victoria Avenue, Southend on Saturday, July 14, from 8pm. Entry is £5.
