Gig to raise cash for music festival
4:00pm Thursday 28th June 2012 in Sound Check By Neil D'Arcy-Jones
AN event to boost funds for the annual Brightlingsea Free Music Festival will feature a host of talent, led by headline act Adrian Nation.
Musical festival regular Adrian will be joined by Unmistakably Real and special guests for the event, which includes a barbecue, at the Millennium Gardens, Promenade Way, Brightlingsea, on Sunday, July 15.
Tickets, which include food, cost £10 and all the proceeds go towards the cost of the free festival, which will be held on August 3, 4 and 5.
The three-day extravaganza has a theme for each day, kicking off with classical on the Friday evening featuring String Fever and a performance of well-known classical songs, duets and instrumentals from professional artistes brought together by St Jame’ Church.
Rock, blues, ska and indie music is Saturday’s offering, with the line-up including local up-and-comers Dingus Khan, Swiss rockers Dead Monkeys and Salt Dog, who will once again be headlining the evening.
The weekend will round off with a jazz and roots inspired afternoon of music from, among others, Colchester Institute students’ band the Houston Mayhead Quartet and the Sweeting Swing Band, featuring the Andrews Sisters and a host of nostalgia from the Forties to round off the evening and the event itself for another year.
Tickets for the pre-festival fundraiser are on sale at Spirals, Brightlingsea, or by calling 01206 308221.
