Essex Police are investigating reports a Porsche Boxter was stolen after it smashed into bus shelter in Southend
12:29pm Sunday 21st October 2012 in Southend By Emma Thomas
POLICE are investigating after a Porsche smashed into a bus shelter this morning.
The driver of a blue Porsche Boxster appears to have lost control of the car while driving along Bournes Green Chase, Southend, near Downes Vets, at 10am.
Officers arrived shortly afterwards and worked quickly to establish the owner of the car.
At midday, police received a call from the owner reporting it had been stolen.
The man stated he believed the keys to his car had been taken while he watched a cage fight at Garon Park, in Southend, on Saturday evening.
Officers are investigating the theft as well as the collision.

Shoebury_Cyclist your comment was not funny first time, to post the same comment on each story involving a road accident is getting really boring.

I suppose people don't want to face the truth about who causes the carnage on our roads, they'd rather post and read racism.

I am fed up with cars parked by lazy owners on footpaths, being driven aggressively, parked on double yellows around the local schools, drivers on mobile phones. And this is not to mention the many innocent people who are killed and seriously injured each year.

Im not condoning cyclists because I am one myself also. Im not the best of cyclists and have been guilty of bad cycling myself, riding on footpaths, through high streets on the path, no lights at night etc..
You probably cant even drive a car. So keep your sh!t opinions to yourself.

The truth is the carnage on Southend's streets is being done by drivers.
I agree with keptquiettilnow, we need a zero tolerance approach to bad driving.
A £1000 fine for a first offence of speeding. Car taken and crushed for a second offence.
A £1000 fine for a first offence of illegal parking. Car taken and crushed for a second offence.
A £1000 fine for using a phone while driving. Car taken and crushed for a second offence.
Car taken and crushed and licence removed for life for a first offence of drink/drug driving.
Automatic ten years in prison for any death caused while driving.
… and so on.
Zero tolerance. It's the only way Britain's ignorant, arrogant, dangerous, killer and scofflaw motorists will learn.

So was the car left at the accident scene or was it eyewitnesses that reported the type.
We all have seen cyclists filter through cars at traffic lights, they go through red lights, ride on the pavement and generally ignore the rules of the road, when they get hit they always point the finger at the car driver. A few years back a cyclist hit my car whilst it was parked in a designated parking bay, he blamed ME for the accident, he ignored the fact that he was riding hands free whilst trying to send a text! It's NOT just car drivers that are irresponsible there are plenty of cyclists as well.
Shoebury cyclist/aducksquack or whatever your name is why will you not acknowledge that fact. Why will you not acknowledge that cyclists that use the High Street as a race track, why not condone those that use public footpaths and expect pedestrians to get out the way, you can not lay the whole blame on car drivers.
I have a bike and a car I use both in a curious manner which is more than can be said by some car drivers and some bike riders.

Seriously I ride a bike and drive a car. Some car drivers need to get it out of their heads its not a race. On a bike you are always going to get around quicker than in a car.
If car drivers actually left space for cyclists to filter by, instead of blocking their paths by stopping right next to the kerb, it would actually make life a lot better for all concerned.

Shouldn't take more than five minutes, assuming the driver was the owner.
If not, was it reported stolen.

During the last five years (2005-2009), there were 3,051 pedestrians killed in collisions with motor vehicles: 2,118 involving cars, 933 involving other vehicles. That’s an average of 610 a year.
By contrast, there were 11 pedestrians fatalities in cycle collisions during this period, an average of 2.2 per year.
Of course, these statistics say nothing about who was at fault. However, even if we look at pedestrians killed on the footway or verge, the figures still show that the threat to pedestrians comes overwhelmingly from motor
vehicles, not pedal cycles. There were 226 pedestrians killed by motor vehicles on footways and verges in that five-ear period: 161 by cars, 65 by other vehicles. That’s an average of 45 a year, almost one a week. Even if
we double the period to a whole decade (2000-09), the total number of pedestrians killed by cycles on pavements or verges was just three.
To put it another way, the figures show it would take nearly one hundred and fifty-one years for people on pedal cycles to kill as many pedestrians on the footpath as cars have done each year from 2005-2009.
Figures from DFT
In 2011 there were 203,950 road casualties reported to police. 1,901 of those were deaths. The most frequently reported cause was 'failed to look properly'.
The economic cost of all those collisions was over £15 billion.

What is the point? I mean, a car is heavier than a bike, travels at faster speeds, and is a darn site wider, so it's more likely to hit someone.
Yet at the same time, SOME cyclists ride like they own the road (I've mentioned several times how my pregnant wife was nearly knocked over by a cyclist who ignored the red light at a pedrestrian crossing)
So, some drivers have their faults, some cyclists have their faults. Yes, cars kill more people than cyclists, but that's like saying trees are stronger in the wind than daffodils - it's obvious due to their different attributes. There cannot be an argument against it!
For one, I'd love to see a conversation about a vehicle accident that doesn't bring this senseless argument up. Some people like bikes, some like cars. Yes, it's good to sometimes DISCUSS - not ARGUE - thoughts and beliefs, but I swear some just come on here to bait.
We all think different things, and we're entitled to do so. No amount of arguing can change minds. So what's the point in doing it?

There are even psychologists researching this irrational hatred. They think the prejudice, anger, and verbal and physical assaults on cyclists may actually stem from a mental illness or deficiency:

"I've mentioned several times how my pregnant wife was nearly knocked over by a cyclist who ignored the red light at a pedrestrian crossing" You mean she wasn't knocked down by a cyclist who ignored a red light*... If we use your criteria then every pedestrian can claim every car passing them "almost knocked me down". "That plane passing overhead almost hit my house…" etc. *and anyway this is pure anecdata with no evidence whatsoever to back it up.

As it's the elite few why rise to it?
And - while I liked the "bloody cyclists" irony to start with - it's started these arguments.
Why not stop doing it for a few articles, and see if anything anti-cycling related is mentioned? You are starting the arguments by offering up the bait for those who want to bite.
I have not seen anything in this argument berating cyclists for chosing a cheaper cost. Ages ago there used to be the argument of 'why don't cyclists pay road tax (which you rightly pointed out doesn't exist, it's VED)' - but I've not seen that in ages.
You are happy with your ideals in life, so allow others to be happy with theirs. If people do have an irrational hatred toward cyclists so what? Why is it your problem? It's theirs, and it's up to them to deal with it.
I hate football and love motor racing, whic most people see as a sport where cars just race round in circles. I know it's more than that, but it doesn't mean I stand outside football grounds telling people they shouldn't follow it.

So this car vs bike thing is still going on is it, give me a car over riding a bike in this weather!
As I said above, I changed my username. I then used a different computer which was still logged in on the old username. Nothing sinister about that. But it does so get Asbo's knickers in a twist I might just carry on using both just to watch him froth himself into yet another banning.

as basildon.lad.1 said- I'm a busW!@$"%.... I know all the stops lmao
It's just so curious as to where this bus shelter is the supposed crash occurred. The only bus shelter along that road is right at the beginning nearby Maplin road, which, is not a layby, and still stands when the incident was meant to have occured.

Because I'm one of many on bikes - just trying to get somewhere the same as everyone else - who will be subjected to abuse screamed out of windows, road-rage assaults, punishment passes, being cut up, being left-hooked, being barged off the road etc. all because I choose a different form of transport.

And why keep bringing up the debate time and again?
Can you also accept that some drivers who cut you up, or drive too close, do so by accident, rather than as some form of vendetta, because you choose a different form of transport?
It comes across, especially there, that because you're on a bike you're automatically hated by all!
I get cut up a lot when I drive, I've had road rage incidents, I've been barged off the road a few times too - but I get on. I don't drive like a maniac unlike others, I choose to drive the way I drive - others don't like it then so what? I get on. We all do. World keeps moving...
