POLICE have withdrawn an appeak to identify a man and a woman after rail staff were assaulted and racially abused.
British Transport Police released a CCTV image of a duo they saught to identify in relation to the incident.
The 31-year-old man and 27-year-old woman attended an Essex police station on Wednesday, August 19, and were interviewed under caution as enquiries continue.
Sergeant Fiona Robertson said: “I would like to thank those members of the public who provided us with valuable information.
"This appeal is now withdrawn, as our enquiries into the incident continue.”
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 5, at Leigh station when a 48-year-old female staff member, from Dagenham, suffered cuts and bruises but did not require hospital treatment.
