Rush-hour chaos has descended on the Greater Anglia line again this evening because of a points failure on the tracks.

The points failure, between Illford and Gidea Park, has blocked the line, and has led to the cancellion of 32 trains this evening, including three services to and from Southend Victoria.

The train operator has posted on its website: "Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until 7pm."

For Southend Victoria to London Liverpool street commuters, that has led to a host of cancellations and delays.

The 4.54pm and 5.49pm trains from the capital to Southend have been axed, while trains both two and from either location are experiencing heavy delays.

It comes just a few days after the train operator's boss admitted it needed to improve its consistency - http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/12891739.Greater_Anglia_boss__We_must_improve_consistency/

However, today's problem may be under Network Rail's remit, which manages the train track infastructure.
