AN injured man has been seen laying on the ground surrounded by armed police in a road in Southend.

The incident is believed to be on the corner of Plas Newydd and Eastern Esplanade by the seafront.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land on the beach and armed police surrounding a man on the floor who believed was bleeding.

Part of the road has been temporarily closed by the emergency services while they deal with the incident.

Regardless of what happened to the man and how, we should be glad that air ambulance facilities are now available at a call during an emergency. And then making it to a beach-side location by road always takes longer!
