Home burgled three times in three weeks
10:01am Wednesday 5th February 2014 in Southend
POLICE are warning homeowners to be extra vigilant after homes in a Rochford road were targeted three times in three weeks.
Homes in Ashingdon Road were broken into and valuables and personal items stolen during January.
A property was broken into and jewellery and personal documents were stolen in the first raid, on January 11.
A day later, the owner of another property found thieves had got in by breaking glass and again jewellery, documents and a St John Ambulance silver medal were taken.
A third victim found their home had been burgled on January 29 when the rear doors were broken and cash and two iPods were taken.
In the most recent burglary, two men were seen in the area and detectives want to hear from any witnesses. One of the men was white, in his mid-thirties, of average height, plump, with dark hair.
He wore blue jeans, a navy blue fleece top, and white trainers.
He was using a white iPhone and was seen looking out at the front of the property, keeping an eye on the road.
The other man was also white, of similar age but much taller, of skinny build and with short, black hair.
He was wearing blue jeans, a navy blue fleece and black trainers.
There was also a burglary in Pevensey Gardens, Hullbridge, overnight on January 11-12 and detectives are linking this with the Ashingdon Road incidents.
In this burglary, a large amount of jewellery was taken.
Anyone with any information about the burglaries or those responsible is asked to contact Det Con Simon Laurie at Southend CID on 101 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
