FIRE crews attended a lorry fire on the A127.
The driver of a HGV pulled over just past Progress Road on the westbound carriageway after smelling smoke.
He found the electrics on a tail lift at the rear of the lorry on fire.
When crews from Rayleigh Weir and Leigh attended at 1.55am this morning the flames had spread to the side curtain of the lorry.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the lorry recovered.
