Email confusion over 11+ results

PEOPLE awaiting 11+ results on email may not have received them or they may have appeared in their junk mail.

The Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex said on its website today: “Results emails were sent but we have been made aware that some email domains such as yahoo, btinternet and gmail have blocked the emails and some recipients will therefore not have received the email. We are currently looking into this and getting the emails resent to the affected recipients.”

Many parents found that the vital results email had been dumped into the spam section automatically by their service providers last year. Some parents waited for up to a week to get the postal result despite the paperwork being sent out first class on the same day.

As of yesterday there were no reported problems with the post.

One parent told the Echo: “CSSE offer nothing further than a laughable statement, and certainly no apology.”

They need to set the RDNS record of the server they are sending the emails from.

If this pathetic bunch had done as much studying about how to inform the "recipients" as the children had to do they may have got a better mark. The stress and upset caused to my daughter son-in law and grandson appears to be nothing to the bunch of fools running this consortium. I hope as they have failed they will not be eligible to run the consortium next year.

Every year there is some form of problem regarding either emailing the notification of the school place or the 11+ results! Fours years ago we had email problems from both!!! You would think by now they would have learnt from mistakes and taken some action into ensuring this did not happen again.

To be fair (and I was waiting for my own son's results) it isn't necessarily their problem. Every now and then my business provider gets listed on spammer lists - no idea why, as they are a reputable company, but it happens. Not saying that was the issue, but just pointing out that there are plenty of reasons for non-delivery of email.

Yes, it was frustrating, but CSSE gave the results out to me over the phone (I picked a sensible time to try and phone and got through after only a few minutes of trying) and I also had the email by the end of yesterday which is still just about faster than getting them by post.
