£17,000 benefit cheat fined

A MAN admitted conning more than £17,000 in benefits.

Terry Rogers, 30, of Pomfret Mead, Basildon was given a 10-month jail term, suspended for a year, after conning the cash from Basildon Council over a nearly six year period.

Should have been fined over £34,000 The taxpayer gets nothing from this. He'll probably be give a hundred years to repay at tuppence a month from his benefots.

First thing that should be done is make him pay back all that has been conned. Then add court expenses. And no off er of clemancy if he can't, he'll have to sell off what he has to pay it back.

5k fine, repay 17k + court costs. Confiscate his belongings, if not enough, send him to labour camp to build roads at 2 pounds per hour until its paid off

It depends on the facts of the case. Its about £58 a week he was getting help with housing benefits. There was a family of Nigearians who had 7 council houses claiming in different names in each house and was subletting. They claimed for the kids they didnt have and recieved £288,000 of benifits. The Judge at Crown Mr George Muntango not sure on his name spelling . He gave them a suspended sentence and made an order to stop £20 a week from their benefits. Come on where is justice.

If you have no money, no assets, and no criminal record, then it seems to me that the best option for you is to lie, cheat, con, and thieve. In the unlikely event that you are caught, for a first offence you will almost certainly get let off with a minimal fine or simply be told not to do it again. I'm just surprised nobody runs courses teaching people how to cheat the system.

Business, Governments, and worst of all, Bankers have conned you out of trillions, and with the help of the national rags, are set to continue this rip off until at least 2050 and you have nothing to say. Then some ne'er-do-well cons the system out of £17000 and everybody's up in arms. Business's like Twinings and Gillette take their production abroad where labour is even cheaper, putting thousands out of work and you still buy their razor blades and tea! I would say you deserve to be conned! Get the people back to work, pay them a true fair wage and let's get the country back on its feet. There would then be no need to fiddle the dole money!
