Seevic College has launched a brand new animal care course for students.

The one-year BTEC diploma is being provided for students who are looking for a career working with animals, in agriculture and the environment. They will be given the chance to learn about caring, feeding and housing animals as well as health and safety when around animals.

The animal care course is being offered at Seevic College’s New Campus Basildon at Church Walk House in the town centre. The first course, Level 1 BTEC diploma begins on Friday October, 26.

The college has decided to introduce the course now as it wants to offer opportunities that weren’t previously available and engage students in different ways.

Seevic College, based on Runnymede Chase in Benfleet, said it has introduced this course at the New Campus in Basildon as nowhere in Basildon offered the course and it was aware of the number of students who have left school and not gone onto college or sixth form.

Sarah Wright, Principal and Chief Executive, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching Animal Care courses at New Campus Basildon. We know there are so many young people who have left school feeling they haven’t done as well as they wanted, and now believe their options are limited.

“It offers an ideal option for those who didn’t find their place at school, and are now looking for something different.”
