Basildon stunt biker makes it through to final of international competition
1:10pm Monday 8th October 2012 in Echo News
Leon Neill is one of 30 sponsored trials bikers taking part in the international Get Creative competition
A STUNT rider from Basildon is one of just 30 bikers around the world who secured sponsorship to take part in a brand new international competition.
Leon Neill, 28, of Hockley Road, spent every weekend this summer filming a video for Get Creative.
Based on video entries submitted online, the contest looks for the most unique, creative or technical riders who test their bike handling skills over a series of obstacles.
Mr Neill said: “I’m not expecting to go and win it, for me it is more about getting my video out there. I’ve been a bit lazy and it’s been a long time since I’ve made one but this has really made me get back into it.
“The video’s will be judged on a little bit of everything. It’s about the riding, filming quality, angles and how much thought has gone into it. It’s not just necessarily just about who is the best rider.”
Trials rider Mr Neill is sponsored by Spanish bike company Marino, and could bag an undisclosed cash prize if he wins the competition.
Get Creative also has a novice section with 70 entries.

Didn't see any mention of the National mountain biking event, which was held at Hadleigh over the weekend.
Maybe they didn't want the usual Hadleigh nimbys psting about how dreadful it all would be if people other than them were allowed to use the park which would mean more chance of someone seeing that not all of them clean up after their dogs have 'dropped their conkers' over there

We walked over on Sunday and watched some of it. Great for the youngsters I saw, going around the Olympic track.. Just a shame there were hardly any spectators.
Perhaps the Echo didn't know about this, or the train come to that !!

Always negative comments on a good piece of news...think we have a group of readers that have glass half empty attitudes!

Is there any harm in cheering on someone for achieving something....
