Voluntary groups in Rochford can apply for up to £1,500 grant
2:54pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Echo News By Emma Thomas
THOUSANDS of pounds are up for grabs for voluntary groups.
Rochford District Council is asking local groups to apply for grants of up to £1,500 for projects and schemes that will make a difference to the community.
The council also runs a staff volunteering scheme where workers spend 15 hours helping out in the community. Local groups can also ask for help from the council’s volunteers.
Terry Cutmore, leader of the council, said: “The council is committed to making a difference in the way it supports the community and there are several ways we can help local voluntary and community groups.
“It doesn’t matter how big or small the group is, I’d encourage them to come forward and access the services we offer, whether it be grant funding or our staff time through our internal volunteering scheme.
“The council is here to help the voluntary sector not just financially, but also by being there helping and supporting our community in any way we can.”
For information on how to apply, go to www.rochford.gov.uk or call 01702 318061.
