Wanted man arrested
2:38pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Echo News
A WANTED man has been arrested as part of Essex Police's drive against burglary.
Officers had issued an appeal as part of Operation Nemesis for help in finding several suspects.
This led to the arrest of Connor Diack, 19, just after 9am today on suspicion of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
He is currently in custody being questioned.

This is the second story I've read about Operation Nemesis and also there's the stories about the recent crackdown on drugs with raids at Mayhem and The Old Hat (however misguided that people believe the police's intelligence to be).
Although this crackdown is commendable, I would like to hold back on the congratulations as this should be part of their day to day role rather than special projects.... Shouldn't it?
Do Essex Police think their public is impressed by the operation names? I'm not. What I would be impressed by is policing excellence but I don't see much of that in Essex.

Surely doing what the Police are paid to do 'CATCH CRIMINALS' is hardly news worthy and if it is considered news worthy that tells me a different story that is it is a rare event to catch a criminal WHICH IS VERY WORRYING!

The fact that, in my haste to defend the police methodology, I quoted your post instead of my intended leads me only to apologise to you.
But for general information, I would like to add that, going by Peter James's books, the names for special operations are chosen by the Police computers and give each operation an easy to remember and unique title, which is far more likely to be accurately referred to than a number. Just thought that worth mentioning
