Basildon deputy mayor's missing £5,000 chain found Basildon deputy mayor's missing £5,000 chain found

A LOST £5,000 ceremonial chain has been found almost five months after Basildon Council’s deputy mayor misplaced it.

Chris Jackman, who is also a Tory ward member for Wickford Park, last remembered wearing the gold jewellery at the 100 anniversary celebrations of the 1st Ramsden and Downham Scout Group on April 29.

It has now been returned to him after a friend discovered it down the back seat of his car.

They certainly have the neck to concoct such a story! Eric's probably got it about right.

I blame Tony Ball for the loss... but not for the recovery

Since the chain has been missing all this time and council business has gone on as normal perhaps in these austere times it should be sold to put some hard cash back in the coffers.

On reflection my earlier comment may have been a little harsh. My first wife did in fact lose her virginity in the back of my Cortina. The difference is, she never got it back.

Was you there when she lost it?

Certainly not! Wouldn't be surprised if you were though. It had been nicked the night before.

Not the first Mayor to lose a £5000 chain. The last time a mayor lost a chain he had a cheap duplicate made whilst it was 'missing' then sold the genuine for scrap.
Strongly recommend a metal test!
Shocking story!!!!!!!!!!

These people are a joke and a waste of space and public money. Every last one of them. I hope people remember the next time they go to the ballot box to vote ALL these liblabcon twits out and get in people who really WILL be good value for money. There is not ONE single useful council member.

I wonder if he has sucked any good hemp lollipops recently. Really, to think people who were chucked out of the Conservative Party conference for promoting cannabis can be allowed a position on a council. What ever are the people of Basildon thinking of that they could even countenance the sort of corruption that goes on..

Do the vast majority of people in Basildon actually think?

Highly suspicious, especially considering the previous story of the Police cracking down on scrap metal thieves!

So he had been sitting on it all the time! Duh

If Tony '8 pies for lunch' Ball had been sitting on it the whole car seat would of been missing too.
