Drunk tresspasser impaled on railings
8:00am Friday 13th July 2012 in Echo News By Gina Marden
A WOMAN was left with serious injuries after she fell on to railings when a drunken prank went badly wrong.
The 21-year-old and a man had drunk too much booze and then trespassed into the grounds of the Billericay School, off School Road, Billericay.
Once inside the woman climbed on to the roof of a demountable classroom, but then fell off the 10ft-tall roof and landed on a railing.
Paramedics raced to the scene and treated the woman for serious injuries to her crotch area.
A spokeswoman for Essex Ambulance service said: “We were alerted at 2.54am to a woman, believed to be in her twenties, who had jumped from a small wall and landed awkwardly. She sustained injuries and was taken to Basildon Hospital for further care.”
The woman needed emergency gynaecological treatment following the fall.
Police also attended the scene and the 21-year-old man was given a caution for causing a nuisance on school premises.
Officers are now warning other people not to trespass on to private property or to put their safety at risk while drunk.
Sgt Simon Gray said: “With the summer approaching, people may be tempted to muck about on school grounds and cause a nuisance. But, as this case clearly shows, this can be extremely dangerous.
“It is also likely to result in people ending up in trouble with the police, as where we are made aware of people committing offences like this, we will deal with them robustly.”
The incident happened shortly before 3am on Saturday.
