600 homes plan for old Runwell Hospital site

A PUBLIC exhibition is taking place for residents to look at plans for 600 new homes on the former Runwell Hospital site.

This is the second round of consultation and residents are invited to view the plans on Thursday, June 14 at the Runwell Sports and Social Club, from noon until 6pm, and there will be workshops on from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The Homes and Communities Agency which owns the site, has prepared a set of draft development proposals based on feedback from the first stage of consultation held in March and April this year.

As well as the new homes, new community facilities and a new by-pass are proposed as part of the plans. Feedback from this round of consultation will be taken on board and fed into the outline planning application which will be submitted to Chelmsford Borough Council in the autumn.

I hope additional school places can be found as the needs rise along with GP and dental resources etc etc.

Do not forget increased reservoir capacity so these houses do not addd to the water shortage.

maybe they'll be built with rainwater 'harvesting' systems so that people can use it to flush their bogs and/or water the garden thereby easing some of the inevitable strains on water suitable for human consumption.

Then again they'd have to build a landing strip for the flying pigs......

if (or should I say when?) these houses are built will they count towards the total that Basildon Council have told us all that they 'must' build as part of their future development scheme?

No these houses are in the Chelmsford Borough Council Boundary.
