Southend prepares for Diamond Jubilee celebrations

A HOST of Jubilee themed events have been planned for Southend.

The town will be decked in red, white and blue, celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style with a host of street parties between June 2 and 4.

A total of 67 temporary road closures have been authorised for the parties.

Every infant, primary and special school pupil in the borough will be presented with a commemorative medal.

There will also be several free music concerts for the Priory Park Bandstand as well as free art workshops.

Southend Council will be hosting the Southend Jubilee cricket festival from June 1 to 5 followed by a Trevor Bailey-themed benefit.
