A man has been left with a fractured skull and three fractures to his cheek after being assaulted.

The victim was walking along Oak Road in Canvey, having left a pub in the area, at around 2.15am on Sunday, August 13 when he was approached and attacked at the junction of Furtherwick Road.

The information has only just been released by Essex Police.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, was left with a fractured skull and three separate fractures to his cheek.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the assault and have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Det Con Rob Lewis of Basildon CID said: “The victim had left the pub and, was set upon and left with serious injuries.

“Due to the seriousness of his head injuries, our victim has no recollection of the attack or who caused his injuries.

“We would therefore like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the moments leading up to or just after this incident.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may recognise the man pictured in the CCTV image, or indeed the man himself, who may be able to help us with our enquiries.”
