BRITISH rock band Dr Feelgood, who hail from Canvey, will be performing in Chelmsford next month.

Formed on the island in the early 1970s, the band remains one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world.

Dr Feelgood have enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home

Their single See You Later Alligator gave the group their first gold record.

The current line-up features Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass, Steve Walwyn on guitar and Robert Kane (formerly of the Animals) as the most recent addition.

May 2011 saw the digitally re–mastered re-release of Chessmasters.

Last month, Chris Fenwick, the band’s manager, hosted an afternoon presentation at the Canvey War Memorial Hall, in High Street, titled Canvey Man: Tales of His Journey.

The hour-long talk included memories from Mr Fenwick’s upbringing in Essex as well focusing on some of Dr Feelgood’s exploits.

The band will be playing at the Clarets Bar at Chelmsford Football Club on September 29. A day later, they will be performing at the Alban Arena Camra beer festival, in St Albans.
