HUNDREDS of people rushed to the south Essex coastline for the Leigh Folk Festival.

The event, which has been running since 1992, each year sees music lovers come together to celebrate the folk sound, food as well as dance and ceilidh workshops.

And this year was no different. The four-day event took, which ran between Thursday until Sunday, and saw a variety of entertainment, music and fun for the family.

As previous years, the festival was marked in a number of venues across the town, including in High Street, New Road, and Broadway West.

Festival goers were able to enjoy great entertainment and shows.

Among the acts on Saturday included Justin Hopper, Cath and Phil Tyler, Mike Pilkington and many more.

Sunday’s acts included the likes of Jim Causley, Alasdair Roberts Trio, Mary Hampton, and many more.

Visitors to the festival also enjoyed the food on offer, which showcased different producers and sellers, including independent food and drink companies.

Since the event began, now almost 20 years ago, it popularity, scope and scale has increased exponentially and today the Leigh Folk Festival is made up of concerts, dance displays, ceilidhs, a centrepiece procession, workshops, open mic, kids’ activities, film as well as street theatre, storytelling, busking and art.
