THE family and friends of Irene Hall laid on a slap-up celebration for her 100th birthday.

Mrs Hall ran kiosks on Southend seafront for many years with husband Fred.

She still enjoys good health but said that “a new pair of legs would help”.

A delighted Mrs Hall received a card from the Queen and also one from TV personality Phil Spencer .

She was joined by her daughter Celia, son-in-law John, two grandsons and five great grandchildren, her 98-year old sister plus 70 family and friends from all over the country for a celebration lunch at the Cliffs Pavilion.
