MORE than 40 runners completed a race filled with tricky obstacles and huge amounts of mud for charity.

Some 41 people tackled the Nuclear Races, an assault course based near Brenwtood, to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice, in Nethermayne, Basildon.

Together, they raised more than £4,000 for the hospice, which provides care for those with special palliative needs across Basildon and Thurrock.

A spokesman for the hospice said the team involved, which was named Luke’s Nukes, had a wonderful time.

He said: “What an awesome day we had. Forty-one crazy mud runners took to the countryside of Brentwood to complete a tough 7km course with over 80 obstacles.

“It was a truly amazing team and they have raised over £4k for the hospice. Thank you for the support.”
