A man is being cared for by the ambulance service after being knocked off his bike.
The ambulance service sent an ambulance to the scene outside the Basildon Magistrates' Court in Great Oaks within six minutes of getting a call about the accident just after 10.30am.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was cared for by the crew after complaining of lower back pain.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police were contacted at 10.30am following reports of a collision on Great Oaks, Basildon.
"The collision involved a bicycle and a blue Ford KA.
"The cyclist, a 28-year-old man, was taken to hospital by ambulance.
"Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and would ask any witnesses to contact us on 101."
