STUDENTS got to drive robots, learn about designing machines and get hands on with technology on a special experience bus.
The students, from the Prospects College of Advanced Technology, had the chance to discover more about the role of technology when RS Component brought its unique experience to the college’s campus in Luckyn Lane, Basildon.
RS Live is a 35-tonne truck which is touring across Europe over the next 12 months with the aim of bringing technology to everyone and capturing the interest of future engineers.
The initiative, supported by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), provides a hands-on experience of engineering and technology through interactive training and workshop sessions.
Laurence Roberts, curriculum development lead for engineering at PROCAT, said: “It is important for companies like RS to engage with students and influence the uptake of engineering to prevent a future skills gap in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics subjects is vital. RS Live serves as a highly engaging educational resource and we are thrilled to have had it here.”
