TWO men were rushed to hospital after their faces, legs and chests were slashed in a knife attack.

They were approached by a group of men with knifes who attacked them in Ravenscourt Drive, Vange on Wednesday, August 24, at about 11.15pm.

The victims, in their 20s, were taken to Basildon Hospital for treatment and one of the men is still recovering in hospital following the attack.

Terrified neighbours living in Ravenscourt Drive said they now live in fear of leaving their homes.

A mum-of-two living in Ravenscourt Drive who wished to remain anonymous said: “I had no idea what had happened.

“I think this is very concerning and I can imagine that it would have been very scary for the two men.

“I hope that they make a full recovery.”

A grandmother-of-three living in Ravenscourt Drive, who asked not to be named, said: “I did see flashing blue lights last Wednesday night, it actually woke me up. I had a quick look outside but I couldn’t see anything happening.

“I think that the world is just getting worse and worse. Why would people do this?

“I think that the people who did are disgusting and I really hope they are caught and punished.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Detectives are investigating an assault in Basildon in which two men received knife injuries.

“Officers were called to Ravenscourt Drive following reports of an assault in the street.

“Between two and four men were believed to have been involved in the assault and they are thought to have walked off towards Clay Hill Road. Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police should contact DI Anna Granger or her colleagues at Basildon CID on 101.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.17pm.

“Two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer treated a patient with superficial facial wounds and a patient with chest and leg injuries. Both patients were taken to Basildon Hospital for further treatment.”
