POLICE investigating a fatal in Hullbridge where an elderly pedestrian died have issued a further CCTV image of potential witnesses.

An 84-year-old man from Hullbridge was in collision with a car in Lower Road at around 10.55pm on Friday August 5.

The car failed to stop and was seen to turn right into Hillcrest Avenue.

The injured pedestrian was taken to Addenbrookes hospital by air Ambulance with serious head injuries where he sadly died on the evening of Wednesday August 10. He has been named as Basil Shale.

Police Constable Heidi Lee at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Enquiries are ongoing and today we’ve issued CCTV of Lower Road showing a number of people. The image was captured at around 10.52pm on August 5.

"I am particularly keen for the person seen walking towards the top of the screen to contact us.

"If you know you were in the area at the time and think this could be you, please come forward as you may have information which can assist our investigation.”

A 23-year-old man from Rayleigh was arrested in connection with the collision on Saturday, August 6 and has been bailed to December 3 pending further enquiries.
