AN elderly woman has been taken to hospital following an incident in Rayleigh.
A woman in her 70s may have been involved in a collision with a car in the High Street, but emergency services received conflicting reports about the incident.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called at 2.50pm to reports of an elderly woman who had collapsed. We had a number of calls some of which said the woman had been in collision with a car and others which said she had collapsed.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance and treated the woman at the scene who had a head injury.
"She was taken to Southend Hospital. Her condition was not life-threatening."
Rayleigh High Street was partially blocked during the incident.
