A TASTE of India came to Southend as the town's Rotary Club hosted a Bollywood-themed entertainment evening.
The event was organised by Kala Mistry, and supported by her family, to raise money for the Rotary Club of Southend's chosen youth charities.
Volunteers from the Southend Hindu Association, the Hindu Elderly Care Centre, the Essex Asian Women's Association and Southend Council all modelled a variety of clothing.
Members of the 130-strong audience at Ambleside Social Club were also treated to traditional Indian dancing, food and music.
Catrina Lambert, of the Rotary Club, said: "This was a great evening: excellent entertainment and the extra success was that it raised nearly £2,000 for local good causes.
"Kala Mistry has every reason to be really proud of herself."
