POLICE believe a motocross rider who has suffered "life changing" injuries was moved to another location before he was treated by the emergency services.

Officers were called at 3.30pm today to a report a man had come off a motocross bike in Stanford-le-Hope and injured his back.

He has been taken to hospital with injuries that are "believed to be life changing but not life threatening", according to Essex Police.

The man was found in Walton's Hall Road, but he is believed to have come off his bike earlier in an unknown location.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "The incident is thought to have happened earlier today in an unknown location, with the injured man being moved to Walton's Hall Road some time later.

"He was not found with a bike and officers need to locate it to establish how he came to be injured.

"They would also like to speak to the people who moved him from the location of the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Mark Weeble at Laindon RPU on 101."
