CHILDREN have transformed the entrance to their school by creating three striking mosaics.

Every child at Prince Avenue Academy, in Hornby Avenue, Prittlewell, contributed to the creation of the mosaics, which now adorn the main entrance to the school.

The pupils were assisted in making the artwork by Paul Siggins, of the Mosaic Studio, in Leigh, from almost eight square metres of mosaic, in just six days.

It was the second time Mr Siggins has been to the school after he helped pupils create another mosaic to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee and the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Headteacher William Hill said: “Our pupils were very excited once again to be working on a mosaic.

“The feeling that they are making something that will last forever in the school means they take the project very seriously and are so proud of their work.

“They love telling me which bit they did and asking me about the tiles I put in.

“Everyone worked on it and everyone loves the end result.”
