A man has been airlifted to hospital after an accident involving a car and a motorbike.
Runwell Road, near Wickford, has now re-opened after earlier being closed in both directions between the Rettendon Turnpike and Runwell Chase.
The accident, between a Yamaha motorbike and silver Ford KA, took place close to the Toby Carvery restaurant at about 8.45am.
The biker, a man in his 20s from Purleigh, has been airlifted to the Royal London Hospital.
His head and leg injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
The female driver of the Ford, from Wickford, was taken to Basildon Hospital suffering from shock and a foot injury.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Any witnesses or anyone with information about events leading up to collision should contact Pc Andy Sumner at Chelmsford road policing unit on 101, or email andrew.sumner@essex.pnn.police.uk."
