A BILLERICAY teenager is one of four football supporters who has been jailed for assaulting rival fans outside a pub.

The gang of Queens Park Rangers fans gathered outside a West London pub after a match versus Burnley last February.

Harry Childs, 18, of Mountnessing Road, kicked and shattered a pub window before a fight broke out among the supporters.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison for affray.

The group confronted Burnley fans outside the Plough and Harrow pub following a 3-3 draw between the teams earlier that day.

All four men also received six-year football banning orders.

After the violence broke out, the pub landlord, who feared the violence spreading, locked the front doors and called 999.

Childs - who was wearing a distinctive red jacket - and his three associates moved along Kings Street where they came across more fans, and further spontaneous violence took place.

Echo:

Two of the gang, including Childs, were stopped by police, but not arrested as there was no evidence to support their involvement in the disorder at the time.

Police examined hours of CCTV to identify those responsible, who were arrested last July.

The gang, who were found guilty after a two-week trial, were sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court today.

Chief Inspector Simon Causer said: "This kind of behaviour is entirely unacceptable to the police, the thousands of law-abiding and genuine football fans, the clubs and the general public.

“Our hope is that, in light of these convictions and sentences, perpetrators will think very carefully about the consequences of their actions before carrying out football violence.”

A Queens Park Rangers spokesman said: “The vast majority of QPR fans are excellent ambassadors and passionate supporters.

“However the club takes a zero tolerance position to violence in or around the stadium and will continue to fully cooperate with the police in these rare instances.”

Jack Hutchins 21, of Kings Langley, was sentenced to one year, Dean Foreman, 27, of Northolt, was sentenced to one year, and Bradley Pack, 22, of Hemel Hempstead, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment.
