A MAN was beaten up and robbed in a Pitsea underpass.
The man was walking through the subway in High Road, Pitsea when he was approached from behind and hit over the back of the head.
The mugger snatched the 25-year-old victim’s rucksack which contained his mobile phone, wallet, groceries, cigarettes and keys.
The attack happened between 4.30pm and 5pm on April 11.
The victim was left with bruising to the right side of his head.
He was unable to get a description of his attacker.
Sgt Paul Costin from the Basildon Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a nasty incident and happened at a time of day when there would have been people out and about.
“I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”
