A BUNGLING thief hoping to set his Valentine’s Day off with a bang was foiled trying to steal bottles of champagne.
A man lifted four bottles of the fizz when he was in the Co-operative in London Road, Leigh, at about 7.25pm on Friday February 13.
But the thief was confronted by a member of staff who recovered the plonk before he could make his getaway.
Police have released CCTV of a man in the shop they are trying to identify.
Anyone with information can call PC Deborah Martin at Leigh Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on Police want to identify the man pictured in CCTV 0800 555 111.
