POSTIES in Southend have raised more than £1,000 with a charity rock concert.
It is the second annual event raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support featuring an all-Southend postie line-up which took to the stage on Saturday at O’Neill’s including Luke Elgar, the Cut Offs, Misty Livery, Red Nettle and the Faux.
At the last minute, the musicians were also joined by professional band the Most, who volunteered their time to help them raise money for Macmillan.
Keith Elgar, 55, who organised the event, said all 250 tickets were sold and the £1,000 raised put the posties on a sure footing to meet their £10,000 fundraising target by their next fundraising event.
Last year’s rock concert raised £900.
