A FIVE vehicle crash closed one lane of the A127 Eastbound.

The accident took place just before 3pm.

One lane was closed at Rayleigh Weir and one lane was also closed at the start of the exit slip road.

Traffic was queuing back to the M25, J29. 

It is now moving slowly between Noak Hill and Rayleigh Weir. 

Eyewitnesses said there were two ambulances and five police cars on the scene.

It was initially thought that six cars were involved in the accident but the ambulance service confirmed only five cars were caught up in the incident.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called at 2.58pm to reports of a six car road traffic collision.

"One ambulance is still on the scene."

A woman in her fifties, was taken to Southend Hospital with cuts and bruises from broken glass and neck pain.

Two other women, in their twenties and thirties, were treated at the scene for neck pain.

The lane was reopened shortly before 5pm. One lane remains closed at the start of the exit slip.
