SONGS of Praise presenter PamRhodes joined Leigh churchgoers to mark centenary celebrations.
She interviewed members of West Leigh Baptist Church and entertained a packed congregation.
Her non-televised visit coincided with the launch of Faith and Friendship – a book written by Amanda Brandon and Lynden Wade which tells the church’s 100- year history.
The presenter told the congregation: “This church knows how to celebrate a 100th birthday – fond memories shared, great songs sung and cupcakes all round.”
Amanda said: “Treasures such as sepia pictures, Sunday school prizes and copperplate handwritten letters were discovered in a battered suitcase.
“These, along with people’s memories of Sunday school, friendships and social activities have enabled us to record the church’s impact on people’s lives over the years.”
