A VILLAGE is set to get into the festive spirit next weekend with its annual Christmas event.

Hullbridge’s Pooles Lane car park and the Hullbridge community association centre will be given a festive feel with stalls selling all sorts of Christmas goods on Saturday, December 6.

From 3pm, there will be performances from schools and community groups, including the Greensward Academy, Hockley, and the choir from Riverside Primary School, Hullbridge.

Local musician Lee Sergeant will also be performing and the Rayleigh Brass Band will welcome Santa to the event.

He will arrive on a horsedrawn carriage.

After Santa’s arrival, children will be able to visit him in his grotto, inside the community association centre.

Anne-Marie Bates, clerk to the parish council, said: “It is a charity event which is for our community and helps to give something back to them.

“The money raised from last year’s event is going to the Hullbridge Scout group and it will be great to see the cheque presented to them at this event.”

Dance groups Dance Avenue, Fabulous Feet and Prolific Dance Company will also be performing, as will the Big Sing Choir.
