MORE than 2,000 homes and businesses lost power in a power cut caused by a fault with an underground cable on Canvey.
Power was lost at 12.20pm affecting a number or roads including Maurice Road, Thorney Bay Road, Link Road and Seaview Road.
Homes in Westerland Avenue, Eastern Esplanade and Denham Road were also affected.
UK Power Networks engineers are currently working to restore power following a fault on the underground cable network .
2,051Â properties were affected with power to 1674 restored after three minutes and to a further 175 by 1pm.
A UK Power Networks spokesman said: "We would like to reassure the remaining customers that we are working as quickly as is safely possible to return their power to normal as soon as we can.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
