A FAMOUS face appeared on a wall by a takeaway, prompting more than a few doubletakes from passers by.

The black and white painting is of Michael Caine as Lt Gonville Bromhead in Zulu shouting “Don’t point those bloody spears at me!”

Rochford Takeaway, in West Street, Rochford, was the canvas for the artwork, which was put on at about 6.30am yesterday.

Takeaway owner, Murat Yilmaz, thought he had a Banksy on his hands. He said: “When we saw it we thought we were all millionaires because we thought it was a Banksy.

“I don’t know what its purpose is, but I think it’s great – I like to see a bit of art on our shop.”

The artist behind the work is John Bulley, who previously used his brand of urban art to brighten up Southend’s Kursaal estate.

He said: “I did this as part of the Rochford Art Trail, but unofficially.

“It’s all done in acrylic on lining paper then I just wallpaper, it on to the wall. The painting will be destroyed when it’s removed. Nothing lasts forever so I like that eleýý Classic – the artwork ment to it.”
