A NURSE faces a string of allegations over her care of a vulnerable patient at a Benfleet care home.

TracyHumphreys, whoworked as a senior sister at Godden Lodge Residential and Nursing Home, will face six charges when she appears before a Nursing and Midwifery Council at the end of the month.

She is accused of inaccurately recording that a resident, referred to only as patient A, had pressure sores on her heels and the base of her spine.

A second allegation is she behaved dishonestly, as she should have known these records did not reflect the care given.

Three further charges relate to the worsening of the sores, the pain management and nutrition of the patient and the supervision of junior staff looking after the sores.

A final charge says she spoke inappropriately to a colleague by calling her “a stupid cow”.

The two-day hearing, relating to the offences which allegedly occurred in October 2011, will take place in London.

She will appear before a panel who will decide if she is guilty of misconduct.

They could choose to impose sanctions from a caution to a suspension or being struck off is they find her fitness to practice is impaired.

According to the NMC website there are currently no restrictions on her practising as a nurse.

A spokesman for Godden Lodge Nursing Home said: “Our residents’ welfare is always our number one priority.

“We suspended and dismissed Nurse Humphreys in January 2012 – well over two half years ago – after an internal reviewand we referred her to the NMC for their consideration.

“We are confident the home is meeting all standards and providing good care to our residents.”

The Bupa-run care home, in Hart Road, has 133 residents and specialises in caring for Alzheimer’s, stroke and dementia patients.

In its latest Care Quality Commission inspection report the home only met one of the four criterias required – this being respecting and involving people who use services.

Inspection said action was needed in the care and welfare of people who use the services, management of medicines and staffing.
