TWO South Essex singers aim to become superstars after getting through the first round of X Factor auditions.

Jordi Whitworth, 19, from Canvey, and Ryan Robertson, 18, from Basildon, are looking forward to a promising music career after their band Overload got off to a flying start.

The boy band, which takes inspiration from Backstreet Boys and N Sync, already has a legion of teenage fans, nearly 62,000 likes on Facebook and 25,000 followers on Twitter.

The group – which also includes Joey, from South Wales, Ollie, from Bristol, and Andy, from Manchester – was put together by music mogul Blair Dreelan in March, just three months before they first faced the X Factor judges.

Mr Dreelan, who runs Alphadog Management, managed popular boyband Union J before and during their time on the TV talent contest.

Jordi, a window fitter, said: “The response we’ve had on social media is crazy. It’s great because we’ve had a following for a while, but since X Factor we’ve had a lot of new fans coming through.

“It's weird Ryan and I didn’t know each other before the band, because we live so close to each other.

“The really nice thing about all the boys is we’re so close, they’re like my brothers.

“We all have day jobs and try to do as many hours as possible so we can save up money to go down to our manager’s house in Windsor to rehearse together.”

ITV viewers saw Overload get the thumbs-up from all four judges on Sunday’s X Factor, with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini describing Jordi as a “little stud muffin.”

The group performed a unique acapella version of Bastille’s hit Pompeii.

While the boys are remaining tight-lipped about whether they got through to the judges’ houses stage, Jordi has promised we will be seeing a lot more of Overload

Don't think we need the definition thanks...

X Factor? More like Zzzzzz factor.

When are we going to get some decent autumn/winter season telly? This has been done to death now.

Good luck to the local lads and all that but personally I can't abide Creepy Cowell or Thick Cheryl, neither of whom are talented enough to be judging anybody else.

When have you ever seen Simon Cowell sing, dance or act? Come to think of it, when have you heard Cheryl Cole sing? As for acting, if her TV ads are anything to go by I'm more convinced by a Libdem party broadcast.

Give us something with class to brighten the winter nights for Godsake..

Give this, I'm A Nonentity Get Me Into Here and that other freak show Big Brother the elbow and let's have something more interesting to watch...

Bring back the test card I say..
