THREE people were trapped inside their cars after a two vehicle crash on a residential street.

Fire, ambulance and police crews were called to Eastwoodbury Crescent in Southend, near Southend Airport, at about 5pm yesterday.

Fire crews from Southend and Leigh had to cut three people from their vehicles using specialist cutting equipment.

Police cordoned off a road while emergency services saw to the casualties. They were released just under 40 minutes later and left in the care of the ambulance service.

All three were taken to Southend Hospital. Their injuries were not thought to be serious.
